Almost Here ...

Yesterday was an exciting day for Denny and I. As most of you know, we are in the process of adopting a baby boy, and we have been anxiously counting down the days for Stephen's arrival. We both thought yesterday was the day. We received a call about 6:00 a.m. from Ginger telling us that she had been experiencing contractions all night long. We suddenly went into panic mode .... packing bags, loading the car, and realizing that the time had finally come.
I went to work, but I could not quite focus on anything except for checking my phone about every five minutes to make sure I did not miss the most important call of my life. After an agonizing day of clock watching .... the call finally came!! The timing was "perfect" of course because I was being observed by my mentor teacher and was in the middle of teaching 7th and 8th grade girls about the importance of a healthy diet ... never the less I answered the call and left in a hurry.
Denny and I made our way anxiously to Dallas, making calls to the most important people in our lives to share our news with. We were about 20 minutes away from the hospital, when another call came. It was Ginger ... the contractions suddenly stopped .... it was as if Stephen saw the light at the end of the tunnel then changed his mind about his arrival. So we turned around and headed back home.
Today, we are home enjoying our relaxing (some what boring) lives for a few more days. We continue to count the days for Baby Stephen's arrival and can't wait until all the excitement starts again.
